Accounting Clerk 2 (FMG/AC 2) – (Vacant) - 2 posts, salary range $784,430 - $932,440 per annum and any allowance(s) attached to the post.

Qualifications: 

Minimum Required Qualification and Experience
 
Four (4) subjects at the CXC/GCE O’ Level General Proficiency including a numeric subject and English Language.
Completion of relevant training at MIND.
One (1) year experience in a comparable working environment. 

Responsibilities: 

Accounting Clerk 2 (FMG/AC 2)

Job purpose     
 
Under the direct supervision of the Accounting Technician 2, has the direct responsibility for performing a range of clerical, accounting and bookkeeping support functions.
Key Responsibilities
 
Prepares General Consumption Tax (GCT) and GCT withholding certificates;
Reconcile GCT and GCT withholding payments;
Prepare Income and Education Tax, National Housing Trust (NHT) and National Insurance Scheme (NIS) deduction vouchers by activity for commitment.
Assist with preparing employee salary information (eg.P45, P24, NHT letters etc) as requested;
Posting of payment vouchers on the Epicor Financial Management Suite (payment vouchers prepared at the Roads & Works department, Infirmary, Poor Relief etc);
File GCT on Tax Administration Jamaica website;
File S01 Taxes on a monthly basis;
File S02 Taxes on a yearly basis;
Maintain stock register by issuing receipts books, job orders and purchase order books;
In the absence of the Salary Clerk assist with the preparation of salaries and wages;
Maintaining records for the following and ensure that adequate supplies are on hand:-- Cheque leaves for all bank accounts
- Invoice order books
- Requisition books
- Parking ticket books
- Clamping books
- Official receipts book etc.
Any other duty(s) that may be assigned by the Chief Financial Officer or any Senior Officer vested with the administrative authority from time to time. 
Performance Standards
 
Accounting standards and procedures are adhered to according to established guidelines and standards.
Key deliverables are produced within agreed time frame according to required standards.
Confidentiality and integrity are expected. 
Required Knowledge, Skills and Competencies
 
Knowledge of the Financial Administration & Audit (FAA) Act.
Knowledge of the Local Government (Financing and Financial Management) Act, 2016 and other related Government of Jamaica regulations and procedures.
Knowledge of simple accounting practices.
Basic knowledge of Data Entry and Microsoft Applications.
Good oral and written communication skills.
Good numeric skills.
Good interpersonal and customer service skills.
Proven ability to meet deadlines and identify and deal with problems.
Proven ability to quickly learn new information, process and procedures.
Sound integrity and confidentiality.
