The St. Thomas Municipal Corporation hosted Youth Council on Thurday November 17, 2016 at the Municipal Board Room. This is under the Local Governement and Community Month Theme: "Rebuildig Civic Pride in your Community and MIne". Over twenty (20) students participated from Seaforth High, Morant Bay High, Yallahs High, Robert Lightbourne High, St. Thomas Technical High and National Youth Service.
Participants took on roles as Councillors of the ten(10) political divisions and agency representives. The Youth Mayor for Youth Council is Christi-Ann Brown, Councillor of the Morant Bay Division from Morant Bay High and Deputy Mayor is Machelle Irvin, Bath Division from Morant Bay High School.
Councillor of the repective divisions ( Seaforth, Yallahs, White Horses, Llandewey, Port Morant, Cedar Valley, Trinityville, Bath, Dalvey and Morant Bay) highlighted issues within their divisions. Agency representives from Health Department, Jamaica Public Service, Rural Agricultural Development Authority, National Solid Waste Management Authority, Jamaica Fire Brigade, Jamaica Constabulary Force and Superintendent of Roads and Works presented reports to the meeting and reponded to queries.
After Youth Council, participants were treated to Luncheon at Golden Shore Resorts Limited where all participants were awarded with trophies from the St.Thomas Municipal Corporation. Special Awards were also made to students who have done well in the respective categories; Most Outstanding Youth Councillor, Best Youth Officer and Most Creative and Aware Participant. The winners are:

Ronaldo Bowie, Medical Officer of Health - Best Youth Officer, Morant Bay High School
Joleen Davids, Superintendent of Roads and Works - Most Creative and Aware Participants, Morant Bay High
